By using the highest quality of materials available they have crafted a fiberglass pool design that allows you to get the most out of your fiberglass pool with the least amount of maintenance possible. They do this through our unique 4 step fiberglass pool manufacturing process using layers upon layers of roving woven, quality vinyl ester fiberglass, polyester resin, and our newest finish the Ultra-Granicoat.
This amazing new surface allows for the same luxurious fiberglass pool designs you find in many upscale kitchen and bathroom countertops. Enhance your fiberglass pool with gel coats, perimeter tiles, inlaid ceramics or a cascading waterfall.
Ocean reef believes in their composite fiberglass pools so much we even offer a Transferable Lifetime Structural Warranty on every fiberplass pool and spa we sell. Read on to find out why Ocean Reef Pools are the "Next Generation of Fiberglass Pools".
The
mold is cleaned and inspected for any defects. If necessary, the mold is refurbished
in our mold department. Frekote is applied to the mold so the mold will separate
from the pool shell. primary application of 35 mills of our Gel Coat or Ocean
Reef's unique Ultra-Granicoat* finish is applied giving each pool a gorgeous,
non-porous finish. After this we add 15 mills of a quality back-coat color
of your choice. This gives a depth and strength to the surface.
The second layer is 100 mills of quality fiberglass chop mixed with our epoxy-modified resin to form a marine grade Vinyl-Ester resin that is then handcrafted onto the mold. When the fiberglass is combined with the resin, it provides the greatest impact resistance and optimum blister protection available. This breakthrough formula has become the benchmark in the fiberglass pool industry. We then apply on 90 mills of Polyester Resin and Fiberglass Chop to seal and coat the fiberglass/resin layer. We end the process by wrapping an unheard of 24 oz. of woven roving onto the pool to complete the process. Our rigid quality control continues throughout the entire manufacturing process, ending with the entire fiberglass pool being weighed at the end for material consistancy.
The difference between a standard gel coat and an Ultra-Granicoat solid surface finish is night and day!

Gel coat is a durable, polyester material with colors added for appearance. Bathtubs, boats, and RV's use this material. It is a non-porous surface with exceptional corrosion resistance. It is commonly sprayed on a mold and allowed to "cure" then is backed with vinyl ester resin along with fiberglass to add strength.
This
durable finish allows the beauty of a granite look throughout the pool's finish.
It creates the same look found in many high-end kitchen and bath countertops.
Nearly every boat manufacturer uses Ultra-Granicoat* because of its durable
and water resistant properties. This means your pool gets a stunning visual
quality that is coated throughout the pool, not just sprayed on like most
other fiberglass pools. Beauty, stability, reparability, and durability are
just a few reasons why Ultra-Granicoat* is preferred over the less technologically
advanced gel coat. Available in 4 colors, Ultra-Granicoat* provides you with
more flexibility and durability in your pool's finished appearance.
